Naked Theater

Last night we packed up a couple of salads, crackers, and some cold beer and took Miles to see a play in the park. Did I mention it was over 90 degrees yesterday? We got there close to 7 pm but the heat hadn't abated much at all... at least we were in the shade. Still, it was fun. Miles was very interested in all the people and sounds around us and he dealt with the heat fairly well - he started out in a onesie and shorts and ended up wearing just a gDiaper, it was so sweltering.

Mr. Ibis took him for a walk around the park at one point and the lady at the donation booth fell in love with Miles. She took a few photos and asked if she could put them up on the website, to which Mr. I of course said yes. Later she walked by our blanket and excitedly snapped a couple more.

We did not realized beforehand that the play was a musical, a very LOUD musical, so any chance of Miles falling asleep was dashed. He was obviously getting exhausted and it was way past his bedtime, but he continued to jump around excitedly in between fussing. It was also hard for me to nurse him because we were surrounded by people at close quarters and he was so distracted that he kept popping off. I'm fairly brave at nursing in public, but sitting with my nipple hanging out in the middle of a crowd is too bold even for me - so I kept walking to the back of the park to nurse but it was a challenge to keep him fed, and on top of that we were both super sweaty and sticky.

Despite all that, though, he held up amazingly well and only whimpered a little. People around us were all admiring him. Those baby blues get a lot of attention! We had a good time all in all, and at intermission we headed home so we could all crash in bed in our beautifully air conditioned home.

I didn't bring the camera to the park, but here's a cute pic anyway:
